Overwhelming to see the scintillating celebration to begin, a sea of people set to gather at the West Front of the Capital rocks the heart of a wintry Washington on Jan. 21. The massive mass of people is moving into the nation’s most storied house. Their poise presence is there for the president-elect Barack Obama. Hard to read or label, Barack Obama is centrist in his appointments and bipartisan in his style, yet he is pushing the broadest expansion of government in generations in a bid to hauling the country out of crisis seemingly undaunted by the magnitude of troubles awaiting him and unbothered by the few setbacks that have tripped him up. To make this majestic success a sheer reality, over 15 crore dollars is expected to expend in order to manage this affable affair. He is an icon for the young and a sign of deliverance for an older generation that never believed a man with his skin color would come up to vow to preserve, protect and defend a constitution that originally counted a black man as three-fifths of a person. His inauguration celebration as a coronation of a king gets set to start with great pomp and show. Just have a look!

Women’s Kickboxing

June 28, 2007

There are many women who want to learn Muay Thai kickboxing, but are afraid that they may not be able to learn it, as their sex might play bar. I will like to tell these women that they have no reason to lose their heart. Women are very much eligible for Muay Thai kickboxing lessons. And women kickboxing is today an integral part of Muay Thai fights. Kick boxing girl, woman kickboxing, women kickboxing

In fact there are many international women’s Muay Thai tournaments of wide reputation. And some of them are even professional tournaments. For example the Professional Women’s IKF World Championship.

Take it from me, a lot of gutsy women have already made their mark on this dazzling martial art. There are Tenille May of Australia, Mappela Lehtonen of Finland, Pernilla Johansson of Sweden, Wendy Miranda of Australia, and many others. They have all pursued their passion for Muay Thai with strong determination, have flawlessly mastered Muay Thai kickboxing techniques, and have established themselves at unquestionable heights in the world of women’s kickboxing.

So far I did not know much about the customs and superstitions that they have in Muay Thai kickboxing. But other day I came to know about some from www.muaythai.cc. Some very interesting superstitions they have. And you know? They are considered to be the quintessential part of Thai kickboxing.

For example tattoo inscription is a very popular Muay Thai custom. They get it done through temple priests, witchdoctors, medicine men, etc. It is believed that some of these tattoos control good fortune, bad luck, ghosts, and spirits. And some others are known to attract qualities like strength and courage. Wow!

And then there is this practice of rubbing special oils and mixtures or potions on the skin. They supposedly prevent pain and vulnerability.

I also found the custom of Kreung Rang to be very interesting. It is a special amulet that the fighters wear around their necks. Kreung Rang is believed to carry special magical powers. And another thrilling practice is that of wearing pieces of ancestral bones. They are supposed to represent the good spirits of the fighter’s ancestors.

Today I m going to my informative blog on MuayThai i.e. http://muay-thai-information.blogspot.com/, I hope you will enjoy it.

Muay Thai kickboxing’s popularity has now spread much beyond Thailand. Other day I was just reading this site www.muaythai.cc It’s very informative. Anyway, it says how Muay Thai boxing has now become highly popular in other countries apart from its country of origin, Thailand.

Just think of it. It was so many years back that Muay Thai kickboxing started. And its popularity is not only intact, rather it has increased manifold. And, moreover, its appeal has spread to so many other countries spanning South East Asia, USA/Canada, Australia, oooops! It means now it is popular almost in the entire word. Now the countries other than Thailand are not only participating in international Muay Thai events, rather they are holding Muay Thai kickboxing events at their own places. And they are also developing Muay Thai training infrastructure, with lots of Muay Thai training camps, competent trainers, etc.

All this explains the greatness of the art. Not only retaining the popularity, but increasing it manifold. And spreading it almost all over the world. Just like Yoga, isn’t it? It has also successfully retained its popularity, has increased it manifold, and has spread the popularity in countries other than its origin, India.

Muay Thai Kickboxing

May 14, 2007

Muay Thai kickboxing or Muay Thai boxing is the national sport of Thailand, and in all probability the most popular game of that country. And beside that, it is also highly popular in various other Asian countries like Myanmar, Cambodia, and Vietnam; USA/Canada; Europe; Australia/New Zealand; etc.

I got a good idea about the origin and evolution of the sport from the site www.muaythai.cc. The sport, also known as Thai Kickboxing or Thai Boxing, supposedly originated from Muay Boran. Muay Boran itself came into being from Krabi Krabong, the Thai combat style with a sword.

The 16th century Thai king Naresuan made the martial art compulsory for every soldier, resulting into the growth of the game’s mass popularity. His successors retained this royal patronage, helping the game to have a constantly upward popularity graph cutting across the social strata.

And today Muay Thai kickboxing not only enjoys the same popularity among the Thai people, rather it has increased manifold. Moreover, today that popularity has spread far beyond the shores of Thailand, in various countries in various corners of the world. It is proved by the innumerable Muay Thai tournaments in Thailand and other countries, each enjoying a huge mass craze.

However, with the changing times, there have been some changes/modifications/evolutions in Muay Thai kick boxing. For example, in old days Muay Thai fights would take place anywhere with adequate space. But today they take place at snazzy stadia.

Then there have been changes in attires and accessories. For example, strips of horse hair on fighters’ hands and forearms have been replaced by hemp ropes or starched strips of cotton.

Then we can also talk about groin box. There was a time when groin guards were made up of tree bark or sea shells, forming a triangular shaped pillow. Today the fighters fight wearing groin guards.

And then another significant introduction is that of gloves.

However, there has been absolutely no change in the popularity of the game. Oh no, I am sorry. Yes there has been change in popularity. It has had a huge hike, and that is continuous.
